Ajrakh Lagdi Patta Modal Silk Saree – Natural Vanaspati Print in Traditional Green
Draped in the legacy of one of India's most ancient textile traditions, this Ajrakh Lagdi Patta Modal Silk Saree is a masterpiece of natural craftsmanship. The iconic Lagdi Patta (running border) pattern flows gracefully across the saree in a rich natural green — achieved entirely through Vanaspati (plant-based) printing, using herbs, roots, and botanical extracts that have been used by Indian artisans for centuries.
Crafted on luxuriously soft Modal Silk — a fabric celebrated for its silky drape, natural sheen, and breathable comfort — this saree is the perfect union of ancient craft and modern luxury. Every motif is hand-stamped with carved wooden blocks, making each piece truly one of a kind.

✦ About Ajrakh & Vanaspati Printing
Ajrakh is one of the oldest and most revered block printing traditions of the Indian subcontinent, with roots going back over 4,000 years. The word Ajrakh is believed to derive from the Arabic Azraq, meaning blue — though today Ajrakh encompasses a rich palette of natural colours. The Lagdi Patta (running border) is one of the most iconic Ajrakh motifs — a continuous, interlocking geometric pattern that symbolises infinity and continuity.
Vanaspati printing uses dyes derived entirely from plants, herbs, roots, bark, and flowers — including henna, pomegranate rind, turmeric, indigo, and madder root. These botanical dyes are not only beautiful but also beneficial — many have natural antibacterial and skin-soothing properties. The natural green is achieved through a careful combination of herbal extracts, sun-drying, and multiple dyeing cycles — a labour-intensive process that results in a colour of extraordinary depth and warmth. No two sarees are ever exactly alike — the slight variations are the hallmark of authentic handwork.
